So today was the great day that all of us hardware geeks have been waiting for. No matter if you prefer Intel or AMD, we where all glued to our PC?s wasting company time while hitting the refresh button. We jumped from forum to forum anxious to see which page would post their review first. I saw a couple of flames, and more than a couple of predictions of impending doom for either company. Then it began, I really do not know who fired the first shot (review, or poll in this case), but it was ON in a big way. Servers where being stressed, hits where flying numbers where being read and misinterpreted, and spewed back into all of the forums to prove whatever point was made long ago when most of us picked the company of choice, and we became loyal. Lines where drawn, and the posting hit a fevered pitch. We run from site to site looking for which had our side winning by the largest margin, so we could make our links, and rub it in to the opposition. Looking over our shoulders making sure we are not being monitored trying to get in the last post before lunch (EST). Then it begins to die down, and both sides begin to rationalize the argument for their side, because the P4EE is faster at this by .0003fps, and the A64FX is faster at this by .0003fps. Then I just get bored, and scream to the 14 geeks I manage to sit the f&^k down, and shut the f^%k up, and threaten to fire the next SOB that post anything on any forum. Then all is calm when I realize that I just witness the biggest hype parade given to consumers in quite a while. All of these geeks can have wet dreams about P4EE?s and A64FX?s but tomorrow they will go out and purchase 2.4C?s and XP2500+?s and over clock the s&#t out of them. Deep down they know that while both new CPU?s are faster than their predecessors, they witnessed a technical draw due to a late push by the incumbent Intel.
