just want to hear some recommendations on a good high end PC headset to be used mainly for gaming and music. I've looked at a few and I like the Labtec Axis-712 seen here
but I know there are some brands that you guys know of in the higher end that I haven't heard of. My pricerange is anywhere from $30-100. The only thing I don't like too much about the 712 is that it's usb and doensn't plug into your soundcard so you can't have the benefit of sound card hardware features like EAX.

Yea, I'm planning on getting the Plantronics headset too. They are good for the money. I don't like the Labtec's because they only have one earpiece. If you've ever used a headset like that, then you'd know how much they suck. The headset market is really pretty thin. I know that Grado makes some of the best regular headphones.

Ya, in that review though, the labtec axis-711 had the best sound and microphone, it just sucks cause only one speaker, BUT if you look on their site they have model number 712 which has the second earphone.

Microsofts version has a buy one get one free right now. How's theirs compared to other ones out there?

Yep, the Microsoft headphones are Plantronics, the second lowest model that retails for $30 CAN or so. I have a pair I swiped off a GameVoice. They're very nice. They have clear sound for MP3s, and the microphone is clear when I play Counterstrike or Action HL. I had to apply the +20dB gain to make it louder, but distortion is fairly low.

You could also go for Sennhausers, but I think they cost more.

So why not get the MS Game Voice?

Also, the Sennheiser m@b 40 is $50 at J & R. I haven't heard them, but the brand is top-notch.
