A quick and dirty benchmark for you guys.

I'll warn you, there's not much to what I'm posting here, but I think some people would actually like to see it. It's some benches from a couple of quick 3DMark05 runs, nothing special. The test was run at default, no AA or AF, just plain ol' mark05.

Comparing my scores to those online, I seem to be up there as far performance goes with this config. Casting aside those astronomical scores that always seem to show up, it's look like I rank in the top 5 for my video card/processor & speed category.

So besides the obvious gpu performance increase, can we say that 3dmock used both cpu cores, is that why the x2 cpu score is higher? Can you log the cpu usage and see if both cores are at 100% during the tests?

Different clock speeds different GPUs. WTF is the point of this. It's not even like a 3200+ vs 3500+ but a dual core vs single core overclocked...

Very dot dot dot.

I never said I was comparing apples to apples. This is for those thinking of upgrading a few components. No one ever posts any benches like this, so I'm hoping someone with a similar system like my old one can use these benches to figure what they want to upgrade to. I would imagine there are lots of people out there like me who do not just upgrade one component at a time, but a new mobo, cpu, and video card.

Plus, the 3200+ isn't overclocked, it's a s754 newcastle.

I don't get what the comparison is showing? That a 7800GT is faster than a 6800GT? We know this. That the X2 processor is helping? Where's the single core score (using the same system/video card) to back it up?

Good lord, you guys don't read a damn thing, do ya? Just straight to the pic. Do me a favor and stay out of any thread I create from now on.

The benchmarks don't benefit me at all, but I just wanted to say that I appreciate ya doing them :)
I have an X2 4200+ on the way.. perhaps someone would like me to compare that to my 3000+?

it actually interests me because i've been considering the same kind of jump. thanks bro

ditto. Thank you!

same here, thanks for posting.

I'm thinking of skipping the 6XXX series and going to the 7800GT from my 5900XT so this is right on the money for what I'm looking for. I'll probably wait a few weeks after next gen ATI comes out to see what they compare.

from these benchmark results it seems that there is only a little difference between 6800gt and 7800gt?

A 40% difference is "only a little difference?" Granted it's smaller that what you'd see in FEAR... but we all know 3DMark is not the most accurate measure of performance.
