A questiong about DVI cables

Okay, I bought this 20 ft long dvi cable to connect to my (soon to buy) 4805 projector. However, it connects fine to the video card, but when I connect i can't connect it to my moniter. Ya know how there are like 29 pins, then one really long one and wide one. Well on the cable i bout there are 2 smaller pins above and 2 smaller pins below the really wide one. It will not connect to my dell 1801 flat pannel due to those 4 extra pins.

Will my infocus project have those 4 little extra pins?
Is this a special type of DVI cable?
If it won't connect with the 4 extra pins, can I just pick them out and connect it to the project anyway?

Thanks much

Ahhh, i know there are at least two different types of DVI cables...but i do not know which are for which...hopefully this bump will bring in someone more knowledgeable for you.
