I have been currently using a 5 year old Samsung flip top pay as you go cell phone.

The big issue is I need to be able to transfer my current cell phone ####.

I would like yo graduate to a cell phone that will allow me to access the internet, which my current phone allows me to do as well as deducting the internet time from my minutes that I have paid for...........which i do not do very often but I would like to be able to do that and have the time deducted from the minutes that I have paid for.....

Along with that I desire to have a larger screen. The screen on my current phone is very small.

Basically my cell phone is used only as a phone. But when I travel it would be nice to pull up a map if need be.

I am not talking about GPS...just something like google or yahoo maps on occasion.

Basically I am being cheap. I hardly make $25.00 in calls in 45 days.....

If I bought an unlocked cell phone could I insert my card and continue to use the minutes that I hasve left through my carrier...which is AT&T??

I know i sould like and probably am a noob....any suggestions?

Could you get away with something like this?

Only pay on the days you use it... If this would work, then any unlocked GSM phone would work... which is a lot of choices.

Another super cheap option is to get a phone with WiFi and then skip the data plan and just find a WiFi hotspot when you need data. Kind of a gamble, but cheap.

So how many minutes do you use per month?

http://www.airvoicewireless.com/plans-2/10-plan/
Something like this? They use the att network.
$10/mo for 250 mins or 500 texts. Data is $0.33/MB.

Data will be pricey on any of these pay as you go plans.

Instead of using Google maps, you can get a smartphone without data or really low data and buy a GPS app with maps stored on the phone.
