A question to Slingbox users

I'm currently awaiting for mine to arrive. I bought a slingbox AV on ebay for 105 shipped. There is just one dillemma that I have.

I have Verizon FiOs TV here at home and I have a few questions.

1. The TV has two "on" modes. One is when the channel that your surfing will display and the other will not display a channel and just show you the current time. The box is always on. The question is, does the box have to be on searching a channel in order to watch the TV through slingbox? Can slingbox still get the channels for me even tho the box is on but not surfing channels.

2. Can I use slingbox somewhere else if my wife is at home watching the same TV and cable box?

Thats really all that I can think of right now. I'd really appreciate it if anyone has any experience with hooking a slingbox up to the verizon fios cable box.

1. the slingbox "sees" the channel before the TV does, so you wont see any of the TV's info.

2. You would need to be watching the same thing. If you have a second cable box around that isnt connected to a tv, use that for the slingbox and you dont need to watch whatever anyone else is .
