A question to LCD owners

Hey everyone,

I just got my new PV174 Planar in the mail and am quite impressed by it so far...just wondering if there's any software out there that'll make sure everything's optimized. Also, should I be running this thing at 60, 70, or 75hz at 1280X1024? Thanks!

refresh rates don't matter much with LCDs since LCDs don't refresh the way a CRT does so don't worry about refresh rates too much. re: software, beats me. make sure to turn on cleartype

Was the Planar shipped directly from Planar or from dell?

Can you post some pics? What color did you get.

I've read that 60HZ is the optimal. You could also try calling Planar and ask them.

this was a question for darkshadow right? my planar is translucent blue 18.1 shipped straight from planar.

it's ok. I just wanted to know if Dell keeps them in their warehouse or not.

Thanks.

Also, can someone please tell me how thick the flat panel screen is without the stand.

I know the CT model is thicker than the PV model correct?

Thanks for the replies guys. The Planar is indeed from Dell...I always thought that Planar shipped directly...but I ordered on Monday, it shipped on Tuesday from Oregon, and got here (PA) today.

Thanks for the link to the software boomerang...I'll try that out...I have it at 70-75hz and it looks fine for now. Now to go find a PCI video card with DVI output.

The screen is around 1.5-2" thick at the thickest part. The outer edges of the screen amount to be less than 1" thick.

As for pics...sorry, don't have any webspace to put them on. 😛
