There have been cases were people are deported because of stuff they said on twitter on Facebook. Movies will exaggerate some stuff but really, they're simply adding humor to how ridiculous the system is.

Ex: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...orted-from-us/2012/01/30/gIQAD0tfcQ_blog.html

Every time you fly, rest assured that every single thing you said on the internet was examined before you are let on the plane. That is the kind of world we live in today. There is no privacy.

I doubt I'd be able to fly to the US, I've openly said bad things about their government.

Really, the system relies on people assuming things like this. Then anyone acting squirrely as a result is subjected to extra scrutiny.
My information security professor referred to much of this as "security theater." More effort tends to be poured into it then designing more provably secure systems.

Wow I cannot believe this thread is real.

That said, I would consider it poor etiquette to discuss "bombs" or whatnot within earshot of others in an airport/airplane. People are paranoid, unfortunately.

What if you're John McCain and just decide to break out into joyous song to the tune of The Beach Boys - Barbara Anne?

The only air marshal I've ever seen detain anyone had no need of a weapon, not a person anyone sane would look at and decide to resist arrest.

Standard rule on use of force that applies pretty much everywhere, is there an imminent threat? A situation where a reasonable person would be certain harm will occur if immediate action is not taken. It is strictly about the moment, nothing previous, nothing even a few seconds away.
