a question on wireless network

Two computers, one uses Linksys wireless pc card, one uses Linksys wireless USB network adapter. I also have a Linksys wirelss access point.
I installed the two network adapters on two computers (driver and software).

The problem is,

When I was trying to install wireless access point software on these two computers, I got same error message,

Can't locate the access point.

What is the reason, I turned on the access point.
