A Question on the Logitech MX 700

Does this mouse have the same tracking problems that other logitech's have? Ie, trying to flick the mouse causes incorrect readings. Both my mouse and my roomates mouse (iFeel's) have the problem that when we snap the mouse, the mouse tends to go back and forth in random directions until the speed of the movement decreases.

I've heard that MS mice don't have this problem. Anyone know about that?

Me neither, just threw the thing around my mousepad and it's going where I want it too. Pretty smooth, too :)

you can't compare them to ifeels, the mx have twice the resolution and higher refresh. ifeels are quite old. mx is good as it gets. and no skipy

OMG my mx700 is incredible... I would recommend to anyone, I do gamming and it's too smooth for anyone but me when my friends try to use my computer.

What kind of mouse pad are you using? I was having a similiar problem when I was using the MX700 with 3M mouse pad. They don't seem to work well together.

I use a belkin mouse pad (and tried it on my desk as well) and my roomate's tried it on paper, books, desk and any other smooth, non-reflective surface of varying colors. All to no avail

I've got Logitech's $20 optical mouse (three button/scroll wheel) and a similar Microsoft mouse and basically never have the problem you describe. Every great once in a while the cursor will do something random for a second (on both of them), but it's a rarity, and I can't get it to do anything weird as I'm whipping the mouse around the pad right now.

no problems here either - it's been 10 months and it's all good! However, it's about high time for a diaper.. erm, battery change. the NiMH batteries in there is almost dead after plenty of recharges - good thing I bought a new set earlier this month for when the battery finally dies out - not a problem other than that.

I am using the mousepad that came with my old logitech mouse, and it doesn't seem to be working that well... maybe its something else but sometimes the mouse moves incredibly slowly, any idea why?

Perhaps you have some wiring in the vicinity of the radio path to the receiver that's causing cross inductive interference? AFAIK the MX700 uses the 11 meter band which could be vulnerable to this type of interference although I've never experienced it. Also make sure the sensor is free of any FOD that could cause these anomalies you describe.

Cheers!

No logitech optical mouses I've tried has this problem that you speak of. They all track perfectly at any speed I can move my wrist.

All the lower end Logitech mouses I've ever used exhibited the quirk, where moving the mouse too quickly caused the tracking to go all out of whack. (Three I personally bought, every Logitech mouse that came with the Dell's my school(s) computers, and all the older models my friends have).

Upgraded to the MX700 because of it. I always thought that the first Logitech optical not to have this problem was the Dual laser version. Then Logitech came out with the MX line that didn't have it either.

I've had very limited experience with MS optical mice, so I can't comment about those.
