A question i have had for awhile.

Has anyone ever noticed that if someone posts something totally original, it gets reposted no more than 5 minutes later? This is strange, do poeple do it for popularity, OR, is it an unconscious thing?

For example, that post about the university of toronto having a fellatio study was posted
twice the other day, but i had never seen anything like that before.

/me waits for someone to post the exact same thing to be a smart ass. =]

Maybe they did not see the first post. Sometimes a search will not turn up what your looking for, if someone decided to give the post a unique title instead of sticking to the basic subject matter.

I think people just get so excited they don't even do a search before posting. Example was the recent release on Microsoft XP about no hardware upgrades. NFS4's post was at the top when another thread about it was posted, on the exact same subject.

no, i am not knocking anyone. I mean, is it our unconscious which does it? Lets say you are scanning the board, and you decide to post something. What if your brain picked out a word on the page which registered in your brain as something to post. Following me?

Also, it happens in spurts. For example, being sick has been a topic 7 times in the last week, but the last time before that was more than a week, and then before that was in feruary.

While we're on the subject of posting topics. I've often found it strange that probably once a day a newbie comes in and the first thing they post is "where can I find warez?". Man, you don't even know anyone, or what the community is about. It's not like it's #warez on IRC or something, it's anandtech. Why do they get the impression that everyone is cool with warez? Not that I'm not or anything.
