when police confiscates drug money, what do they do with it? give it to charity? use it for the government? just destroy it?

just something i always wondered about...

you never know, this can be a million dollar question when you happen to be in the "hot seat"

and another question (more of a silly question)

is pikachu a girl or a boy or both?

It's kept in a storage area as evidence for years.. then I believe the money becomes government property and is destroyed or recirculated..

Around here the confiscated money eventually goes to the police to buy additional equipment.

I am sure drug money isn't destroyed anywhere. Some branch of the government will get it.

Well the drug money may be destroyed, but I'm sure they get it replaced with clean money from the government.

Back when UI lived in TX, a couple in Dallas found something like 200k in a gym bag and turned it in. They were told that if no one claimed it, they could keep it. Somehow or another, that 200k dwindled and a chunk of it became "lost." The station also decided that this was evidence and that the couple could not have it. The couple sued.

All money and valuable property seized by DEA and U.S. Customs is returned to the United States Treasury. Actually Customs in particular is an enormous revenue generator for the federal government.
