A question for you eastern Midwesterners.

Hi.

Uh... right, anyway, I'm going from Bedford, IN (South Central) to Biloxi, MS (Coastal Central) on Sunday night. I usually go down I-65 through towns like Louisville, Nashville, Birmingham, and Mobile.

Since I'm in no hurry, I was looking at taking an alternate route, namely I-64W to St. Louis, then down I-55 to (near) Biloxi. Is there any cool scenery in that area? I've never been to Illinois or Missouri before.

Thanks!

Illinois and Indiana resemble themselves when travelling down I65 or I55. FLAT AND BORING!!!!!!
My suggestion would be to leave at 2 a.m. so you get through the boring crap when it is dark out (IL or IN).

If you want excitement (

😀 ), take 31E down to Nashville (goes thru some nice areas, esp. down around Barren River State Park and it goes past the Abraham Lincoln birthplace.) Not sure what the U.S. route is to head on toward Birmingham, though.

A friend of mine and I once took the U.S. routes up from north-central Florida once. It paralleled I-75 and when we got to Chattanooga I decided to hop on the interstate as it was getting late and I didn't want to stop for the night someplace. That was a fun trip. She loved stopping in the little general stores or antique shops we'd pass along the way. And we were always near enough to the Interstate that we'd see a Cracker Barrel ever so often and those were the bathroom breaks (they usually have clean restrooms.)
