A question for those with Cisco gear at home.

Hi all,

Having seen many of you with Cisco equipment purchased from eBay etc. I am also considering getting something to have a bit of fun at home 😀

I do have one questions tho. As far as I understand I would need to subscribe to their smarnet in order to recieve latest IOS update? Or are updates free and smartnet is mainly for tech support and warranty? Since I'm not too comfortable with the idea that I have to pay a subscription for updates (financial reasons) but I still want it to be up to date (security reasons). Or am I out of luck?

Thanks in advance.

I would not buy smartnet for home use unless you're rich and have no better ways to spend your money.

you can try P2P.

Your (legal) options are to purchase a single IOS license (per unit), or purchase a SmartNet subscription.
