A question for Santa Cruz users...

I just picked up a SC and a set of 5.1 speakers and I have a couple of questions. When hooking up 5.1 speakers to the Cruz the versa jack is used for the center/sub connection. However, I still want to be able to use my headphones from time to time.

First question:
If I install a jack splitter and hook the center/sub connector to one side and my headphones to the other side will the 5.1 surround sound still work correctly?

Second question:
With this set-up will the Sensaura Virtual Ear also work correctly when using the headphones?

Thanks

Pokey

i dont know about your second question, but the answer to your first is that if you put a jack splitter in and leave your headphones in permanantly the center/sub channel will sound weak and powerless compaired to the other channels. If you intend to just put your headphones in when you use them, you may as well skip the splitter and just swap when you feel like it.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I may still go for the splitter because I don't think that I will want to keep pulling my comp. out from my desk when I feel like switching to the headphones.

Hi Pokey93,

Not really sure about the 5.1's but a splitter works great on my Son's Sound Blaster Live... We just hooked it up to the number one jack and it works like a charm... Just make sure you have a volume slider on your head phones.

Love You!

hm, never used 5.1 on my sc, i figure you just select 6 speakers(5.1) when you want 5.1 and headphones when you want headphones. use a splitter in the back, and a long extesion cord thing to get to your desk or where ever you plugin your headphones. don't leave your headphones plugged in when you go to 5.1 or it'll be weak.

another possible solution is to get a headphone plug type switch box, i have a couple sony ones i got from frys. they switch between inputs though, not sure if they sell the opposite or if i could use them backwards.
