Funny, I love my long irons and can't hit a hybrid. I've tried most and want to love them, I just don't. They're all too light, too offset and too sole-weighted to suit my swing. I play a high draw on my own, so when I hit a stick designed to promote a high draw all it does is turn into a very high hook. Just picked up an 18* Nicklaus IronMax from e-bay, it's very ironlike, similar to a Mizuno Fli-Hi and the new Titleist 503, but with less offset. If that one doesn't work I'm giving up on hybrids forever and keeping my trusty 1-iron.

you can hit a 1 iron off the deck???
I bought a 1 iron since I hit my 3 and even a 2 pretty well.....and I don't think I could hit someone upside the head with it.

No one's probably reading by this point, but oh, well.

Nice choices. Wish I could hit the MP-14s... had to get the Pro-IIs in case I have a bad day. 🙂 If I had $200 to spend, I'd probably get an RTG 56 and a Callaway Steelhead 13, too, haha. (The putter's just fine, thanks.)

True, the new super-oversized titaniums are much better than the old slightly-oversized steel which in turn were better than the older small persimmons. The thing is that Taylormade isn't any better than Titleist which isn't any better than Callaway which isn't any better than Mizuno etc etc etc. Everyone should be playing a modern jumbo titanium driver and anyone that isn't is throwing away strokes. Where it presents a problem is that all modern clubs are essentially the same. You're not going to hit one any longer or straighter than any other one. If you're good with one you'll be good with all (as long as they fit) and if you suck with one you're going to suck with all. That's the trap most hackers fall into. They buy a new club and suck, so rather than blaming themselves they blame the club. They get a different club and still suck, so they abandon that one and get yet another new club all the while refusing to accept the reality that it's the indian and not the arrow. There are people that will try 10 drivers, 5 iron sets, 8 wedges and 15 putters in a season and not improve one bit because they don't address the one factor that really counts, their swing.

I'll keep my 975D over that oversized crap any day, thank you very much.

(The R7 is an obvious exception, thank you very much.)

That said, $300 spent on 8 45 minute lessons will improve your game FAR more than the newest hunk of titanium.

Hook swing + hook club = "FORE LEFT!!"

I agree. I've had headaches with clubs that are offset or line up shut. I don't want the face closed at address!
