A question for all you AMD experts out there.

OK, here is the deal.

I have an ASUS A7M266 MB with an AMD XP 1600 on it.

I want to upgrade the chip to somthing newer.

The ASUS web site indicates the board will support up to XP 2100 with the 1007 bios.

I have been out of the hardware scene for a while and I'm horribly out of date. So, here is the question:

What is the diffrence(s) between the 2100 chip and the 2400/2600(266) chip that would keep me from useing them on this board?

Thanks,
Slicer.

The Multiplier... if the board doesn't support a multiplier that high, it won't work. Sometimes when they say up to XP2100, it's only because when that was printed, the XP2100 was the fastest out there.
