with rounded cables if you are only going to use 1 connector would it still work if you cut off the other end of the cable?

i an only going to connect them to my trios and the extra piece would only cause airflow hinderance and also look ugly.

or is tehre a place that just sells rounded cables in a single ide?
 
Actually they do sell single device silver rounded cables, but they are out of stock. I was fixing to order some of the singles a few weeks ago.

This place has them in stock.
 
but i dont need a 18 inch cable i want something like 12 inches and also want to know if i cut the bottom off if it will affect the hd?
