A question about textures.

How can you tell if a texture is low-res or high-res? People say that Bioshock's textures are low-res, but the looked fine to me. (except for the water.) Are people just really critical of the game, or are the textures actually low res?

Well, there's no detail to them close up (or even from a distance).

Hell, Farcry textures looked much better :D

Low resolution texture implies a texture who's size is small...or generally on world geometry...a texture that is stretched to much for the amount of amount of brush space it has to occupy

This will give the appearance of pixelization...or potentially lack of detail

Do I think bioshock textures are lower res then they should be? Yes, I feel that any next gen engine should be using 1024+ textures for any of it's larger brush work.

Indeed, Bioshock uses small textures, it still looks good but sadly Bioshock is yet another console port... thankfully the game is a masterpiece so its still worth buying.

Thankfully there are still developers like Crytek who know what PC Gaming is about.
