Ok,

i have a mobo with a SPDIF header. i have a reciever with SPDIF in. what i need is a SPDIF port (optical or coaxial) that connects to the header pins on my mobo, and allows me to then run a cable. ive loked, but cant seem to find any.

what i have in mind is alot like the gameport PCI panels htat come with sound cards. just the port, with the conn. on the end to slide onto the header pins on the mobo.

Any help would be greatly appriceated.

Keep in mind that if you succeed, unless this motherboard has SoundStorm (nforce2, Athlon XP only) you will only get stereo for games not 5.1 surround.

DVDs will give you 5.1 because they have Dolby Digital pre-encoded on the disc.

Games are sent as just 2-channel stereo unless you buy a soundcard that has Dolby Live real-time 5.1 encoding of game audio. Creative cards including X-Fi do not have Dolby Live.

EAX only works with analog ports. The only thing that will be 5.1+ on the spdif will be things like AC3, DD, and DTS tracks, as previously mentioned. I went through a few setups with my nforce2 then a audigy2 before finding out about how eax will not work over the spdif connections.

I think the X-Mystique's DDL output goes through the analog processing first, picks up EAX2.0 and then goes to a digital conversion and is encoded for DD.
