Newbie question....I'm waiting on my GA-8INXP to arrive( I'm not holding my breath) and I'm also waiting for my serial Seagate to arrive(again, not holding my breath), when they finally arrive I'll be installing a 3.06 chip and two sticks Corsair 512 xms 3200 and, amoung a few other odds and ends, a Sony dru500a, here's a couple of my questions...
1). The Seagate is a serial hd, so do I set the Sony as master?
2). My cpu versoin is C22248-002, pack date 12/17/02...is this a C-2 stepping chip?
Thanks for any clarification...
I know there aren't alot of serial hd's out there, but any ideas or advice on setting this up with the Sony is much appreciated.

1)set the seagate as master and your sony as master at the secondary ide channel
2)i don't think that there are any C2 stepping.there are only c1 stepping
but since you have a 3.06 ghz chip, you will definitely have a c1 chip

SATA drives are 1 drive per channel only. So you'll have to set the Sony up on the second SATA channel, (assuming you have an adapter), or use it in the regular manner on an IDE channel. See this article here Sorry, don't know about the cpu stepping.

Thanks...I appreciate both your answers...Now, the Seagate will have its' own serial(onboard) connection, while the Sony will connect to ide 1...so, in this scenario I should set the Sony as Master, the Seagate will be the only HD going into the system. Thanks for posting so quickly! :)
qdemn7...thanks for the article link...:)
