Hello, I'm still quite a newbie with Win2k so please ignore my ignorance...

Is it me or does Scandisk does not exist in Windows 2000? Sometimes when switching from TVout to my monitor on my tnt2 ultra doesnt happen (both the monitor and tv are getting no signal.. btw.. anyone else have the same problem?) and I have to press the trusty reset button with some of my applications still on. Is NTFS errorproof to the point where scandisk is no longer required? Tried looking in Administrative tools but havent found it... any input is welcome!

With NTFS, scandisk is not necessary. This is because NTFS is a journalled file system. I'm not sure exactly why (someone who is a FS expert can help us out here), but these filesystems don't have to be checked with scandisk. This is true of all journalled file systems, including ReiserFS and XFS from Linux and Irix, respectively. So don't worry about it.
BTW, I've had a FAT Zip disk in my Zip drive, and the computer BSOD'ed. During the next bootup, it demanded that I insert the Zip disk, so it could check it out for errors. So there must be a disk checking utility in there somewhere, but I don't know what it's called. HTH.

In W2k, if you wan to run ScanDisk, right click on the drive you want to scan, go to "properties", then click on "tools". The first option should be to check the drive for errors, that's scandisk. As for the video problem, I suggest shutting down before switching the outputs, sometimes OS's don't react too well to switching video re-fresh rates on the fly like that. (Personally, that sounds like a good way to fry a video card in a hurry) However, I don't have TV out on my card so I haven't experienced that problem and I'm sure if it is another problem, someone will surely correct me and point you in the right direction.:)
