A question about Response times on a LCD monitor...

I have decided to go and buy a 19" LCD monitor with dvi off newegg. My question is whether i should get a monitor with 12ms response or 8ms response. Id much rather be safe than sorry because this is a one time investment that is going to cost me around 300 dollars. Is there any chance that i will see ghosting with a 12ms or 8ms response time? Or is there a good, 19 inch monitor that you know has no ghosting that is cheap? Thanks.

Manufacturers generally quote the lowest possible response time for their panels, even if the average is much higher. I have an LCD with 12ms/16ms response times, and I notice little ghosting. It just depends on how sensitive you are.

I believe the L90D+ (hope I'm getting that model right) is often recommended around here for a 19" LCD.

Yes, look at that L90D+ and the Dell 1905FP. Both are excellent gaming LCDs. I will pick one of them up in the next few weeks. That is a good price on the L90, I may have to spring on that...

hm, according to the dell site the 1905fp has 20ms response time... isnt that horrible for gaming?

No, in fact the 1905fp is fairly good for gaming.
Somehow I think manufacturors rate their response time in totally different ways.

Specifications can be fudged. The way manufacturers measure things are nonstandard. Your best bet is to get user opinions.

IMO, the Dell 1905FP in an adequate monitor for gaming.
