A question about points on your driver's license.

So,.... I was citied for 2 traffic violations.
A stop sign violation and driving left of center.
(I was delivering a paper route at 3AM,....... driving left of center, wtf?)

Now, I can go to Defensive Driving School for only one of the two violations.

Both fines are $75 but I need to know which violation will add more points to my license and will cost me more in the long run on my auto insurance?

Thanks,.....

I would expect that whichever generates more "points"

The seriousness of the Stop sign would seen to be greater.

yeah i forget exactly how much but I remember reading a booklet when i was in court for my ticket (which i got reduced) and thinking to myself WOW thats a lot of points for not stopping at a stop sign.

FYI, some insurance companies will still ding you for points, whether or not you have them removed by defensive driving school.

Points associated with moving violations are done on a state by state basis.
Either call the courthouse, police station, a lawyer, or take the time to do some searching online.

Arizona DOT link.

Hey thanks for link.

Looks like both violations are 2 points.

I think I'm going to defensive driving school for the stop sign violation, and I'm going to ask the judge to drop the left of center violation.

I think if I point out to him that I was delivering newspapers at the time, and it was 3 in the morning,...... maybe he might drop it...

......or throw the book at me. Heh.
