A question about pcAnywhere, VNC and "remote interfacing"

I have used pcAnywhere and altoght it is nice it doesn't allow to "remotely use" an appliction on one PC without rendering the "host" PC useless (both PC's are 'doing' the same thing - one is running the app. and the second is showing the screen-output of the first - you can work on the target but the host is uesless becose you can't use it for anything else... (you can run RC5 but you can't do a 'productive work', not even surf the net becose the target PC will show the host screen...)

is there a program that can use the "cpu-power" of a host PC to run some app. (say Word) and in the same time will allow the host PC to do other things (surf the net) - a program that will leave the host PC "independet" from the target PC and won't sync. between them like pcAnywhere (9.2) does.

I haven't used VNC - can it do what I need?...

Yeah, it's called Terminal Services and it comes in Win2k Server.

Well, remember that what you're doing is controlling the remote PC, its still a single user machine, unlike, say a UNIX system.

One way to achieve what I think you want(you wanna be able to work remotely on a computer, and at the same time have someone else do the same from somewhere else, while maybe a third person is using it locally?) would be to use Citrix software with a terminal server, but thats expensive, really expensive if its more of a "hobby" thing.

I dont know of any "easy" way to achieve this considdering windows wasnt really made to be a multi user system, and niether VNC nor PCAnywhere were designed to turn it into one, they were merely designed to allow you to take control of a windows box remotely.
