A question about my new x1900xtx

I bought a Saphire Radeon x1900xtx from newegg.com The card came today and I quickly installed it and I am already running into problems.

1) I cannot get the drivers to install.. from either the cd that came with it or from ATI's website. It says INF file is missing. Almost like they don't support this card. Has anyone ran into this problem? If so, what did you do to fix it?

2) Also, when I first turn on my PC and it displays my Motherboard splash screen the colors are all distorted (almost like it is a bad video card.) But once I get into windows the colors are fine, just can't get the drivers to install. Any ideas? Or should I even be worrying about this?

Thanks in advance.

1. Yes I ran into it.. The drivers on the web dont seem to work. What I did to fix it, was delete the device(s) from device manager and reboot. Let windows redetect, and install off the CD. Reboot again and install the controll center*again from CD*.

2. I am getting a wierd quirk here too, except my display says "DVI MODE NOT SUPPORTED" or something to that effect until windows boots up. This only happens after a restart, never from cold boot. I can clear it up by manually cycling inputs on the front of my display *or waiting for windows to load*. This is on a 2005fpw, btw.

there was another thread with exactly the same problem as number 2. it turned out to be normal and not a problem with the card.
As for the first problem , yes the cards are not officially supported on the new ATI drivers yet. BIZZARE!

Well, flashing my motherboard to the latest bios fixed the second part of my problem. So now I just need to fix the driver issue..

anyone know when ati is releasing the next catalyst drivers? or is there any other way of getting it to work? drivers from cd are still not working

Same here... 6.1 is a no go.
I would bet the new drivers will be out any day. I miss the features of the advanced drivers, especially the OC module.

Well, I give up. I've tried everything I can think of. I have even contacted ATI, trying to find out when the next drivers will be released. I guess I will just not be able to play any of my games until they release the next catalyst driver.

*sarcasm* This is exactly what i was expecting after paying $700 for a video card. */sarcasm*

Let me know if you find any update to this problem.. Thanks for all your help.

What kind of monitor/s ?

There's a utility at the ATI webiste that removes all ATI software, have you tried that and then tried installing the drivers from the CD ?

I would assume the drivers on the CD are supposed to work with the 1900s, while the 6.1 drivers online are not.

Also, are you tring to install drivers/software from the CD using ATI's setup program, or some Windows installation wizard ? If from a Windows wizard, it probably isn't looking in the right directory on the CD for the drivers, and can't find the .inf.

5.13= INF error Video driver not found... That is with the all in one drivers, maybe if I just try the driver alone...?

CD worked for me too, but which driver is it??
Odd that ATI doesn't even address the issue.

Sorry to go slightly off-topic, but, curious minds just have to know :p

What was the point of the Catalyst driver release just after 3Dmark06 was released, if they weren't "Emergency Edition" drivers like I suggested and X1900 series isn't supported by them?

I ask this because people criticized me at the time for calling the drivers Emergency Edition - a name I continue to stand by, given recent events.

Im guessing 6.14 based on this *notice the 2D, open GL, etc.

Thats the only thing I can see that even realtes to the catalyst numbers.

The one on the web is probibly 6.0. I dunno for sure because I cant install that one ;)

So, did yours install the Catalyst Control Center? Mine did not. I can rerun the CD I guess.

I'm installing my X1900XT right now off the CD. Seems to be working fine so far. I made sure to boot into windows using safe mode and then used the latest Driver Cleaner to get rid of my old nVidia drivers. To install the drivers off the cd, I used the setup.exe method.

The bad news is that won't be until sometime in February.

I have the same problem - only driver on CD work (Shame on ATI:() and also when Windows starts i receive message "colud not read from BIOS"??? i suposed it is from Control Center. Otherwhise everithing seems to work fine with one exeption - 3DMark06 in test CanyonFlight where HDR is used goes blind white screen time to time and results can not be exportet in ORB (saing 3DMARK encounter some isues).
This time ATI was on time with delivery - Blazing Fast (i both mine on the same day as announce take place - qudos ATI), but drivers on ATI web page do not support X1900XT/XTX is Ridiculous:(. Hope they will do theyr homework preaty soon to release new drivers - otherwise there will be a lot of RMA's.
