A question about LCDs

My roomate is a UXGA fanboy. How important is in when getting an LCD that it have resolution that high.

my girlfriends monitor is 20.1 inch goes to 1600x1200
here is a linkyto the samsung 204T she uses for photoshop use (no gaming)

ps its on sale

maybe it could be used as a coder or a video editor/photo editor they like having alot of real estate on thier screen so they can fit numerous windows on screen at once without them overlapping *shrugs*, that would be one reaosn to have high res, then again youd want it bigger, like 20" or 22".

Laptop panels for some unknown reason are far denser then desktop panels. It's kind of annoying, but then, how would you like a 15" widescreen 1680x1050 desktop screen that's 2ft from you?

Think about this

do you have any idea how much it would cost for a 19" LCD @ 1600x1200, or higher?

Prices would be insanely high and nobody would buy them.
