a question about Indian restaurants and Indian women.

Please bear with me, i'm not indian. I've been to about 7 different indian restaurants in my life and i noticed that only men work in them. I've never seen a woman working at an indian restaurant. Why is this? I'd guess its a cultural thing. Please enlighten me.

um not sure, but when i went to india, all the resturants were run my men there too, i guess it stuck...most of the resturants are run by cooks and stuff from india who have previous experiance there.

really..? might just be your luck.. Indian restaurants that I've been to had both men and women working there..

I once went to this Indian Restaurant in San Diego.
Forgot what street it was on, but it was in a Plaza that had KFC, a sub place, and a Greek Restaurant.

Anywayz, there was a woman who took my order there and she also did the cooking. Still remember that place cauz good Lord, she had facial hair galore.

Probably a coincidence but now that you mention it I don't ever remember seeing any women working in the Indian restaurants around here either.

In Prescot Arizona there is a place called the Taj-Mahal, there is an Indian woman working there.

I asked my parents (im indian) they said its somthing cultural, women are supposed to stay home, or work a family business (not usualy workin resturnats).

Indian restaurant near me is owned by an Indian woman.

I've been to maybe a total of 4 different Indian restaurants and all of them had both men and women in various jobs.

Indian women work in restaurants, atleast over here in Toronto..even in India I remember them working.

I'm from Bombay, India &amp; there are loads of restaurants here which have women working in them!
