A Question About Frames

Greetings,

I usually browse through a number of the forums. To do this, I normally keep one window open with the forums listed and then right click the forum I want and chose "Open In New Window". I realize that I could just pick from the pull down menu of forums, but for whatever reason, I don't.

So... my question is, how hard would it be to have a choice in your profile which says whether you want to use a frame or not? If you have a frame, the left side of your screen could be a listing of the forums and the right side would be the individual forum... or, at a deeper level, the left side could be the forum and the right side could be the thread that you are in.

Maybe it's too much work... dunno... but I had to ask.

Thanks,

Joe

Since I doubt this idea will fly, you can make your own page with a listing of the forums down the left. Keep it on your hard drive and bookmark it or whatever you wanna do. If you don't know how to make up a HTML page with frames lemme know and I can whip you up something in 15 minutes or so.

See how this does for ya. I can take out forums if you want, change the color of the frame on the left, move the frame on the left to the right. Whatever.

Frames are for the most part hated, which is why they weren't added to begin with. We do plan to add a frames based viewing option in 3.0. End of this year, and not sooner :).

HOLY %&)*#*()@~~~!!!! perry, that is EXCELLENT!

Wish I knew even a little about web stuff. Almost all of my background is hardware. :(

How do I "get it" to my local machines so that you don't have to always have it up on your site? Is there a way I could put it on one of my own pages so that it will always just be there?

WOW again. I suppose to some people that was no big deal, but to me.... WOW!

It's actually two files. I could zip them up and email them to you if you'd like. Then just unzip them into their own directory and open up index.html.

If you want em, drop me an email at perryw (at) bellsouth dot net and I'll fire them off. If you want certain forums removed, or colors changed, or whatever, let me know. Takes like 2 seconds to make the changes.

Bada Bing

*note1: you may have to copy the URL, open a new window and paste it in the URL box. Geocities sucks, I know

*note2: I stole some of the code from another website, not all of it, but I feel bad taking credit for that which is only partially mine. ;)

*note3: If there's anything you'd like me to add, remove, or change, LMK. It's very simple to do.
