Hi, is there anyone here using DVD-Ram? Hows the speed of dragging and dropping files to the dvd-ram?

I have just bought a Panasonic DVD multi recorder that supports DVD-Ram, but it needs 21 minutes to copy a 700mb file from my harddisk to the dvd-ram while from harddisk to another harddisk just took 50 seconds! Is that speed possible? It's usb 2.0....

Thx~

Sustained transfer rate for modern hard drives is over 30 MB / sec, or about the speed of a 200X CD burner. So your DVD-Ram time seems very reasonable to me.

A 1x DVD recording takes about one hour for 4.7 GB.

That would be around 9 minutes for 700 mb @ 1x.

Good point, so it's taking more than twice the time it should for 1x speed, but does DVD-Ram packet writing burn at 1x or is it slower?

yeah...
and according to the specs of the dvd-r it's speed is 2x.
The sales saids that the dvd-ram is 1x, but even 1x it would be around 9minutes to finish copying a 700mb file, it wouldn't be 21 minutes...

Is it possible that the sales cheated me and gave me a maybe 0.25x dvd-ram??haha~
