A question about DDR333 ram

I wants to buy an Asus mobo (P4B533-V) with i845G as well as DDR333. But from what I can see the mobo is shiped with Bios version 1003 and it's the 1004 that is comaptible with DDR333 (PC2700). So can I run PC2700 at PC2100 clockspeed so that I can update the BIOS or do I have to use PC2100?.

I know that PC133 SD-Ram can operate at 133Mhz and below but does that go for DDR-Ram too?

I would also like to know what you would recommend. It seems that Asus deliveres the best mobo or?. What about DDR-ram what brand would you recommend?.

I'm into buying the P4 2,26G btw.

Can you recommend other systems like AMD? if so what mobo, what cpu and what ram?. Plz give brandnames too 🙂

Regards

So can I run PC2700 at PC2100 clockspeed...
Yes, you can definitely run PC2700 at 266mhz.

I would also like to know what you would recommend. It seems that Asus deliveres the best mobo...
From what I understand, the P4B533-V is an excellent board. I have a P4B533, and it's an outstanding board. The only thing missing is the 4:5 memory divider (to allow DDR333 at 133mhz FSB.) And yes, Asus is my personal favorite brand of motherboard.

What about DDR-ram what brand would you recommend?
Samsung is excellent memory. Just make sure it's true Samsung (Samsung chips on Samsung PCB). I'm sure there are other good brands, but Samsung is the only kind I've used.

Can you recommend other systems like AMD?
Sorry, but I can't bring myself to do that. (Not quite sure why. 😉 )
