A question about batteries for Wavebird owners

Hello everyone,

I recently acquired my first Wavebird controller which I am quite pleased with. However, in the manual it says only use Alkaline and Carbon-Zinc batteries. It says I cannot use NiCad or NiMh batteries or rechargeable batteries. This is kind of a bummer as I typically use a bunch of NiMh rechargables around the house.

Does anyone know why this is? And if I found two rechargable 1.5v batteries that were NiMh or NiCad could I use those safely?

Thanks!

I don't recall reading in the manual that you can't use rechargable batteries in the Wavebird? I personally use alkalines in my Wavebird, but I know of others who use rechargable batteries fine in their Wavebirds. They have yet to experience any problems after almost 2 years now. So I wouldn't worry and just use the rechargable batteries in your Wavebird.

WTF is a wavebird?

They probably just say that because rechargable is usually 0,2v less that normal battery.

That's what I was looking for, thanks. :) I'm assuming that rechargeables might not yield the juice to always meet the range requirements but I can deal with that.

You got a WAVEBIRD!!!!!!!!

It's a pretty sweet controller. If you have a cube you should definately check it out over a normal model. I bought mine from NewEgg for about $5 more then the wired controllers at B&M.
