FireWire is a high-speed connectivity port on a PC and/or device. It's comparable to USB. FireWire is 400Mbps while USB 1.1 is 12Mbps and USB 2.0 is 480Mbps. FireWire was created by the Apple Company.
It's used to connect portable devices such as harddrives, CDRWs, and can even be used as a form of networking medium.
