I was wondering what is the best p3 right now in terms of OC. I was thinking something like 600 or 700. How high can they go? Also what would be a good mobo? The one that has fsb/agp divider so that I can keep my agp and pci buses working safely at 66 and 33Mhz.

Sorry, if this is a stupid question, however, I've been only building AMD for the past year, and don't have much experiences with p3s.

It seems like the 600E and 700E are real popular right now. You probably will have a better chance of hitting 1ghz with the 700E. Also, you want to try to get cB0 stepping, they overclock better. Stay away from the EB P3's, with the 133mhz FSB, they don't have as much headroom to o/c.

Insane3D is right. The 700's with cB0 stepping are probably your best clock-to-dollar deal, considering many of them are hitting 1GHz.

If you are looking to overclock, stay away from the EB's. Like Insane said, they are 133Mhz FSB and leave little room to push the CPU and it's components.

Thanks guys. I also figured 133Mhz fsb won't go far, however, I wasn't sure what was teh best clock speed. I'll look at asus mobo, as I understood it has fsb/agp divider, right?

Well, it's pretty clear about the CPU, however I havea a few questions about the mobo.

First of all, I need a solid performing mobo with the following features. First, I need ability to set agp divider to 1/2, so that I can have my agp bus @ 66Mhz even when the fsb is 133. Secondly, it has to be socket 370. Thirdly, it gotta have ATA 100 interface.

I also had a few questions

1) What is the difference between 815 and VIA 133 Pro chipsets? I have heard a few bad words about 815, is that true?

2) Do any mobos have -33%, 0, +33% memory clock, like KX133 for athlons? In case they do, what kinda RAM will have chances to run at 172MHz (133Mhz + 33%).

3) What are my chances to hit 933Mhz with 700Mhz CPU?

4) How can I get a CB0 stepping CPU?

Well, can anyone recommend a good mobo based on all of the above? Thanks for your help guys.

I'm not really sure about this one.... I've heard bad words about some of the boards based on VIA Apollo Pro 133 chipsets

2) Do any mobos have -33%, 0, +33% memory clock, like KX133 for athlons? In case they do, what kinda RAM will have chances to run at 172MHz (133Mhz + 33%).

I dont know any boards that do this either... but if you make suer to get CAS2 RAM at 133, it should be able to do 172 at CAS3... in theory

3) What are my chances to hit 933Mhz with 700Mhz CPU?

This one's easy, if you get cB0 stepping, it's not that hard. Both of mine hit 933 with standard voltage, although stepping up the voltage 0.05-.1 is recommended if you go for 933+

4) How can I get a CB0 stepping CPU?

If you buy from a distributor that sells a lot, it should be very likely that you will get cB0 stepping, I got it on both of mine...
