A psychology question

One dollar now, because I am not be alive in two weeks.

And yes, I know that the "two dollars a week later" choice would demonstrate greater patience (and greater success in life). I read an article recently on this somewhere.

the key to the analysis of decisions is the analysis of the mitigating factors that actually go into making such a decision...

<--wants a sammich now but will risk two bucks later on two lottery tickets later because a sammich only leads to a sammich,

I'll take a dollar now. I'm in no need of that extra dollar, and I could make use of the immediate funds...immediately, for purposes of which I am currently aware of.

two dollars in one week from now is worth way more than one dollar today, assuming the person can wait. I can.

what if inflation rises?

edit: err...what if inflation rises..DRASTICALLY?

One dollar doesn't mean much, so I can wait. If it were, say, $1M this week and $2M next year, it might be a bit more interesting a question.,..

How about I take the two dollars now and promise not to spend them for three weeks. Or maybe I beat you up and take the two dollars now.

Bottom line is that I don't trust the situation enough to risk the extra dollar on the belief that you will come back with the cash.
