my friend just informed me that one of the 486 66's he was running for me has died. we suspect overheating 🙁
the good news to all of this is that he hasn't flushed any blocks from the other two 486's or his PII 233 for a long time, so it may give a little booste for the Cube 🙂

this just reminded me to ask a question... How hot can those 486's and Pentiums run before they fry?

Many 486 systems were built with only a heatsink and no fan, so overheating could sometimes be a bit of a problem.

well it at least got a few blocks flushed before it's untimely demise. i doubt he will add a fan to the other's, as all they were doing was collecting dust in his closet 😉 anyways, if you're still here Russ, you can knock one of the 486's in my herd off(if you haven't done it already 😛)

maybe the power supply died.. my old PB 486 died suddenly but I tried a new power supply and wala the ol PB still runs like new.. 🙂

a moments silence for a dead CPU 🙁

May it rest in peace!
