everything is going fine with it except at random the keyboard and mouse will freeze at the same time and although the computer is still doing fine as my guy is still running along in games and stuff i cant even ctrl alt delete it, i have to push the reset button because no controls work. both the mouse and the keyboard are using ps2 and i have not had any problems with them until they were hooked up to the board. i cant find anything anywhere about someone having the same problem so id appreciate any help i can get.

There's a bios setting for PS/2 support. As sohcrates suggested, go git and flash the newest bios (1005 final = 1005.03A beta). That said, you may be having stability problems, and the thing to do is to get all the bios settings pinned to auto/default/stable settings until you've achieved full stability, and then to tweak-em up.

Plenty of folks here at Anandtech have got the A7M266 running good; however, if you want more recent info from people struggling to get the board to run securely, you might try the AMDmb.com forums (under ASUS).

The PS/2 mouse and keyboard connections use separate IRQs. My own experience with this sort of lock up is that it has nothing to do with either, but is video related.

Go into your Control Panel, Display, Settings, Performance and knock the slider a couple of notches to the left. That often eliminates pointer movement freeze ups that lock everything.

I finally got tired of doing that and got rid of my Matrox 450. I replaced it with a Radeon 64 DDR and never have had the problem since.
