I recently had a problem with my Dell Inspiron 5000. The display was acting up, so i thought that i'd put Dell's 3 year warrenty to the test. I gave them a call, and was very happy with the results. Not only are they going to fix my computer, but they are sending someone out to my house to fix it. Now thats great service. No doubt

I have a Dell Inspiron 8000. They sent someone out to swap the miniPCI combo card I had for one from a different manufacturer along with my faulty 15" SXGA+ display (light swirls on a dark screen, kind of like smears but they don't wipe off). The next day I called because the new screen has problems, so Monday the repair tech is stopping by my office first thing in the morning to install yet another screen.

AlphaVMS--

That wouldn't be a 3COM MiniPCI you had them install now would it? To replace the sh!tty ActionTech? Mine should be here Monday :)

I have a Dell Dimension XPS-R400 that I've been very pleased with. About a year and half ago, a power surge fried the motherboard. I called Dell and told them what was up and a service technician was at my door 2 days later to install a new motherboard. I had a set of Altec Lansing speakers that came with it go bad one time and they rush-shipped me a new set, no questions asked. They even paid for the shipping to send the defective speakers back. Now, THAT is service. When I get a laptop, it's definitely going to be a Dell.

I do have to admit, Dell does have some good policies (I'm an L2/product specialist for them at an outsource until Saturday, when I move on to doing tech support for Cox @Home). I won't get into details here, but they'll bend over backwards for you if you bought your system less than 30 days ago :)

You are correct. I had the Actiontec, now I have the 3Com. Tech support didn't give me any problems arranging the swap, either.
