At risk of being called a troll ( I'm really not sure I understand what that word means) I'd like to sorta help everybody posting about the upcoming election to "understand" the language used so often in Repub speech. The need to be politically correct has brought about a change in words to avoid the embarrasment (sp?) and political destruction that would follow your saying what you really mean.
real america = White America
clear choice = McCain is White, Obama is Black
conservative = bigotted
liberal = non-white or a nut case
country first = don't let a Black man ascend to the presidency
a change we can't afford = ditto
Americans = those with the sense to not allow a Barack Obama to be elected.
John McCain is the Republican candidate because they thought there would be no way a Black Man could stand up to the "greatness" of a genuine Wnite war hero - with the scars to prove it. He has fought for America (see above) since he was 17 years old.
Thankfully, beyond the Republican base there were Americans unimpressed with the Hanoi Hilton story. Was John McCain there alone? Did the rest of the prisoners have caviar and iced tea while they brutalized McCain? When that ploy didn't work they resorted to subliminal Racism. That isn't going to work either.
I haven't researched the figures but there were a lot more people in the Hilton than John. Many of them were enlisted Air Force from shot down B-52's. McCain talks about a world of officers imprisoned as if they were the only ones. Also, there was Lt. Col. Cherry, whose F-105 was shot from under him. He is Black.
Listen carefully at the next McCain/Palin harangue. You'll hear the truth of the Republican message - - - -"....he doesn't understand the needs of real Americans". As Palin has said.
