a potentially ignorant question

after i discovered the internet, my tv time has been drastically raped by my web surfing time. so i don't really get a chance to watch the new too often, so i just drop in on cnn.com every once in a while to see if there is anything going down. today, i saw this.. i been seeing a lof of headline articles about violence in isreal/palistine. has it always been this way, or is the violence just being covered more by the media?

The current intifadah has been going on for 2 years strong now.

But seeing it on CNN is from people caring about Muslim issues after Sept. 11

spankyOO7, there has been violence in the Middle East for as long as I could remember, the only difference today is that we are living in a post September 11th world and mindset.

damn... so even when i was watching tv... i had no idea this was going down. too much transformers, gi joes, thundercats, etc... i was paying attention to a different kinda violence
