A possible violation at the polls tonight where I was

My assigned voting place today turned out to be in someones garage. It was a very nice house and there was a nice old red vintage sportscar parked behind the new touch-screen voting stations. I had never voted in this type of scenario before.

Anyway, there were 3 women at a table checking addresses and handing out voting cards to stick into the touch-screen stations. There was also an older guy walking around incase anyone needed help working their station.

So while I'm working through my ballot the guy volunteer/worker starts badmouthing the Democratic candidate for Governor. It doesn't seem like he's really directing this rant at anyone in particular but he goes on for a bit. "I don't know why anyone would vote for Davis...blah blah blah", "He's responsible for this and that blah blah blah".

So, I finish my ballot and I'm considering confronting the guy about whether he should really be voicing his own personal political convictions while working the polls. But, there were a fair amount of people packed into this garage and it would have caused a little scene. Normally I don't really mind causing a scene but at the moment I really wasn't in the right frame of mind for it.

I sat in my car for a few minutes feeling bad for not speaking my mind and considered going back in to say something before finally driving off. I convinced myself to that I should find out what the rules are and if he broke them I will report that voting location.

Anyone have any insight on how this works?

there is a certain distance away from the polls people must keep if they want to voice their opinions about candidate X vs Y
forgot the exact number though... 50 feet from the polls or so..

haha, my mother has ran a voting place for the last two years out of her garage. Covers about 1000 area households, can't remember how many registered voters. Last year the turn-out was around 200 ballots cast.

She would be the type to say something in favor of Davis, is that still a "possible violation" in your estimation and if you overheard her tooting Davis' horn would you still have been 'offended' enough to come tell the entire ATOT community?

Things that make you go hmmmm....

If this guy had been talking sh|t about any candidate or issue I would be just as offended, no question. I'm not a Democrat or a Republican and I vote for people and issues not a Party. It's not his/her place to have ANY effect on anyone trying to vote.

all states have electioneering laws, if you feel they were violated, file a complaint with the state election board or appropriate state agency or the federal election commission
