A *Positive* Experience at BB? Wow! :)

Well, I can't say I'm fond of some of BB's practices (e.g. read Wall Street Journal article), nor of their employee competence in general.

However, to be fair, I must report the *good* as well as the bad. Today (Saturday after black Friday) I actually had a good experience at Best Buy.

Thinking I'd not get in on *any* of the deals (as I didn't go on Friday - threw out my back), I was just trying to get the kids out of the house for my wife to get some work done. I walked in and spoke to 'Eric' about the ad deals, and he stated that pretty much all they had was on this display rack he was cleaning up. Nothing really on there anymore, and I expected this, so I pushed on my merry way figuring I'd just scout around - maybe see something.

Well, my first item to look for was the 5.8Ghz analog phone. I figure for $9 - it couldn't be that bad....guess I'll find out. 🙂 Surprisingly, I found it!

I got distracted and wound up in front of one of those sharp plasma displays (to which my oldest daughter states in a perfect imitation of her mother's voice, "Now, Dad! You *KNOW* we can't get one of these"! <grumble grumble, go away, grumble>

Well, to my surprise, 'Eric' shows up and says, "Sir, I believe you asked about one of these APC UPS's. I happened to be in back, and saw one stuck in a corner, so I thought you may still want it."

Well, after my jaw picked itself up, I stammered a big thank-you, to which he responded, "Your welcome," and walked away. My brain had to sort through the fact that he met me at the front of the store about 20minutes earlier, and actually *SEARCHED* throughout the store to find me and give this to me!!!

Wow.

To boot, after being told that no more of the DLink $20AR kits nor the 50pack Dynex DVD+R's were in stock, my daughter and I actually *found* one of each by doing a little scrounging in nearby displays (DVD's in a CDR location, Dlink kit stuck off to the side).

Well, I can't tell you how shocked I was at, 1) finding all the stuff I wanted, and 2) a BB employee knew the definition of 'customer service'.

I'd also like to add that two other young guys were actually quite pleasant and assisted me in looking at some other items.

I was sure to tell the manager about 'Eric' on my way out..still being half in a state of shock! 🙂

Anyway, that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it! 🙂

you know places get a bad rap because the good experiences go unreported. It's a sad state of affairs that we are often surprised by these good experiences in the first place, but to balance things out, this should happen more often... the report, I mean.

Customer Satisfaction surveys are often only filled out if someone had an unfavorable experience. I mean, who would want to waste time in reporting something that should be the norm ? Well, doesn't that kind of sway opinions then ? I think if anyone goes out of their way (like in Eric's case), it should be reported. I know I'd feel good about it too.

I never said BB has bad customer service either. They actually treated me pretty well.

2 cases

1) Back in 98, yes! 1998, there's a 10 dollars AR scanner, and when I picked it up, I realized that the UPC code got cutted off. That's probably mean it is a returned item. Anyway, the BB guy gave me an instant rebate, so I paid 10 dollars for my scanner. It is actually still in use right now. 🙂

2) Back in probably 01 or 02, I bought a cd reciever for my car without getting the extended warranty, after 2 months, the player broke, went back to BB, they gave me a new cd reciever even though it is more than 2 months since I bought from them. So at that time, I bought the extended warranty on my 2nd cd reciever, and from that point on, I actually bring it back for fixing couple of times in 2 years. Extended warranty plan is awsome especially on something that cost some money.

Yea weird, I got customer service at Fry's yesterday too! I asked the guy what core a P4 was in a combo deal and he replied with... THE ANSWER!

I posted last night about how they actually took back some opened software that i bought yesterday.

While I am glad they took it back and refunded my money. I had to pretty much weather a storm of illogical rationalizations for why they couldn't take it back.

-The game (HotWheels Challenge - for my son) wouldn't install. There was no support for it from the publishers, and I had the required hardware/software.
-There were no additional copies on the shelf.
-The CD had odd blemishes on it.

This place...has reviews good and bad. Guess which one there is more of.

I read just the most recent positive feedback from July 2004, and the webmaster seems like an idiot. He brings up the Bill of Rights and some bullsh1t hypothetical situation. I hate people who are opinionated and aren't even a little intelligent.

As for this Eric guy, hopefully he got something good out of it. Way to be the nice guy and let his boss know.
