A PNy geforce 4 4400 is better then a vision tek geforce 3 right?

PNY's GF4 is certainly a faster card, and it'll have a slightly better feature set.
VisionTek is bound to have better 2D visual quality though, and quality of manufacture of the VisionTek model will also be better then the PNY card, as is customer support policies.

LOL Rand.
As a guy who's had both cards mentioned here (have you?) I can say I can't tell the difference in "2d visual quality". Sheesh. They're both just reference boards, not like VisionTek has 100 engineers working around the clock testing RF filters.

There is a difference between the manufacturers in 2d quality, so settle down Rollo. A simple they both look the same to me would have done.
Maybe you just can't tell the difference with your monitor and resolution, but there is a difference between the manufacturers.

Anyways visiontek or gainward is usually considered to have the best 2d of the nvidia boards. Why don't you look for a visiontek, gainward, or leadtek geforce 4?

The PNY board is probably fine anyways though. I don't know if the difference is like it was in the geforce 2 days or not.

All the geforce 4 4400s will all be just as fast, unless you get one that is clocked higher.

"There is a difference between the manufacturers in 2d quality, so settle down Rollo"
I didn't exactly go postal on Rand, I just laughed because I've owned both cards, and at 12X10X32 on my Sony HMD A400 I can't tell the difference.

" Rollo has some issues with anyone knocking the PNY. "
I am seeking psychotherapy though. I don't care if you knock PNY. This is the first PNY card I've had, and cards last me 4-5 months, so I doubt I'll build up any brand loyalty.
I don't think you'll see much difference between IQ on a VT GF3 and a PNY GF4 though, it's one issue I can speak with a reasonable degree of certainty on. (at least at 12X10 and under)

Yep, I've dealt with both boards... a number of different times in fact. :)
Actually, I sold quite a large number of the original VisionTek GF3's.

2D visual quality has been debated hundreds of times on the forum before, so I won't dwell upon the topic now. Suffice to say that individual perception and preferences tend to play a considerable role in whether one tends to view slight variences in 2D visual quality.
I've seen hundreds say they can't notice even the slightest difference between Matrox calibar 2D, and MSI calibar. While others will swear for days they can easily see a difference between say... ATi and VisionTek.

Some tend to see the differences easily whereas for others virtually any modern card is acceptable.

I merely try to report what is the generally accepted opinion of the relative 2D visual quality offered by both models. Individual eyesight, monitor/resolution preferences could well nullify or exaggerate any perceived differences.

LOL at myself. Good answer Rand.
OK, IMHO the PNY GF4 has as good of IQ as the VT GF3, but I'm only basing that on my general perception of text quality/desktop quality. I don't know what calibar is, so I'll go find out and school myself.
