A pipe in my dorm's laundry room just EXPLODED.

It blew apart a valve on a hot water pipe. Here's some pics of it, but they don't do it justice. My lense fogged up so you can't see the water spraying EVERYWHERE inside. It was hitting the ceiling. In the picture of the window look close and you can see the water running down it.

I know the guy who did this one. He fiddled with a valve on the pipe because water wasn't going into his washer. Water started going in but was spraying a bit so he tied a sock to it. As he walked to the soda machine in back he heard a PINK! FFFFFFFFFFFSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHH!!! as the valve shot the knob off. He was then trapped in the back of the room by scalding hot water. He used a piece of cardboard as a sheild and made a break for it.

What an idiot, I hope he gets all the fines and not the dorm. I can't stand people like that, get maintence if you notice a problem! Man I had so much crap tacked on my bill at the end of the year from people 'modifying the dorm' it cost me 300$ bucks.

I'm not sure if he tied the sock around the pipe because he's an EE or because he's from Mississippi.

If he got reported to the dorm admin, he'll get fined for it. There's a reason why people are told not to mess with plumbing and not to play hall sports.

Guy a month or so ago was playing football in the hallway, knocked a sprinkler head off... flooded nine floors all the way to the lobby, there was water dripping off the front desk. Dude's getting fined big time (in the thousands, I believe, but not sure how much).
