im a tool fan, but lateralus started to show the slide, IMO. i hope the next album doesnt suck, but im not holding my breath that it wont.

edit: most good bands have 3, maybe 4 albums of good stuff. after that they should just split up.

lateralus is my favourite album period.

This album sucks. I was so dissapointed when I heard it today..

Don't get me wrong, I love Manyard with all my heart, but got damn... this album is a mix of crappy politcal drivel, and some really really soft (almost pop ex. People are People) tunes.

There are only 3-4 good songs on this album..

Counting Bodies like Sheep - it's my favorite... absolutely awesome cover of his own song.
Gimme Gimme Gimme and Imagine are good too, but they're political.

I actually like "Let's have a war" depsite its message. That's it though.

I really hope Maynard pulls thru on the next Tool Album!

I listened to eMOTIVe the other day, and while I was hopeful for the CD because of a decent Imagine cover... the rest of it is absolutely TERRIBLE. Maynard, what did you do to yourself?!? :(

The cover of Elvis Costello's (What's So Funny Bout) Peace Love and Understanding almost made me puke.

of those who didn't like the album, which of the previous did you like best, Mer de Noms or Thirteenth Step?

The album's name is "eMOTIVe"? That alone tells you it sucks. Any album that can't correctly puncuate or capitalize its title, 99.9% of the time, is terrible.

Mer de Noms > Thirteenth Step

That's good to know, I feel the opposite

i got it, listened to it through a couple times, the fiddle and drum is good, most of the others are crap. too many sh1te melodies to make up for the few times they hit it just right. honestly i could only enjoy an entire APC session if it was like a best of mix, usually i have to turn it off/fast forward when any of their albums play all the way through. im like that with most bands though, its hard to make a CD that everyone can dig all the way through.

I am in agreement about the political stuff. I really like the Led Zepplin cover though. I enjoyed this album, but it cannot compare to either of the first two efforts. (of which i prefer thirteenth step more). in that regard, yeah it is a disappointment

Sorry to revive an old arse thread but I have now listened to this album quite a few times and I really do like. But it isn't like anything they have done before. If anyone knew of the originals or the covers they could have easily determined that this album was totally political. If you can't deal with that don't buy it.

But has anyone picked up the remixed album? I have to say that one is great! Most of the covers are from Mer de Noms. Also, there is a DVD with about 9 music videos with a commentary option. It is the first time for me to be able to see Maynard's thought process. For example the song Judith is actually referring to his mother who was paralyzed (or really sick can't remember) and how she constantly prayed and was encouraged to do so by other followers. It did give her strength so Maynard encouraged it but secretly it really hurt him.
