It's my brother's. The spec is AMD Athlon Barton 2500+ , Kingston hyper ram PC 2700 512MB, Asus A7N8X deluxe edition, Antec 430 watt power supply. CPU and memory are NOT overclocked. While playing a game, the computer powered off for no reason. I switched power supply but it's NO go. :( Any idea what's going on?

what game? what OS? have you applied any available patches? when does it turn off, after you've been playing awhile, or pretty much right when you start it?

If it powered off and stayed off (as opposed to rebooting) the cause is most likely heat. Games put stress on the CPU, causing them to heat up. Check the shutdown temperature in the BIOS. You may also want to install Motherboard Monitor and turn on logging. The next time is shuts off check the log. Once you have installed MBM, post your idle CPU and case temps.

Yeah, he could just have a dirty or broken fan (on the cpu or on the vid card). You could also try it with the case off to see if the games can be played longer.

Thanks all for tips but the system won't turn on at all now. Zugzwang, it's Never Winter Night and Windows XP and the system turned off after playing awhile. :(
