a palace in your home?

Just the fact that that is probably one of the nicest places on earth is awesome. Considering we live better than kings of old as it is (AC, fridges, microwaves), this is really a "palace". Personally, however, my home theater room is going to be pretty much black without much for the projector to reflect off of. Of course, I need a house first...dangit!

He did all that architectural work and then went with a DLP!?!?! For the kind of money that guy probably has he could have gone with a runco CRT and gotten a much better projector. Not to mention he had stadium seathing put in...How are you supposed to cuddle up with a girly if you can't lay down with her on a couch?!?!?! Stupid people...

How much better is a good CRT, really? My friend has an old, old CRT and I think my DLP owns it. Mine is an Optoma EzPro 739/745. I can't imagine the picture looking much better than it already is, maybe by adding a screen and better light control, but I'm really happy with how mine looks. Plus his is ginormous; mine is five and a half pounds. I can tote mine to my friend's house to play Xbox anytime I want to, or plop it on the coffee table in the living room and fire up a movie. Good stuff 🙂

This thing is the best evar:

8' cuddlebag. My fiancee brought me to the store in the mall out west. The thing was AWESOME. If you can afford it and like movies, I'd say it's definately worth it. It's the first piece of furniture I'm buying when I can afford a house 🙂

And yeah, I know what you mean about the seating. I like the idea of a home "theater", but not the seating so much. You know, when you invite your friends over you just want to chill and lay around all over the couch and floor. I don't want to have to sit straight up in a chair, unless it's a Lazy Boy or something. That and like you said, if you've got your girl with you, you're going to want to cuddle with her rather than hold her hand across a chair...in a movie theater I can understand that, but in your own home? I'd rather be comfortable than have an authentic theater room.

Plus you can add transducers to couches 🙂

i wonder if the gold is real?

I don't think so. He has progress pictures post if you click some of the links. The designs look like plaster made from molds which came from wax, then painted. Like the columns, they aren't marble, they're painted. Looks great tho, and a lot cheaper to fix if your kid or friend nicks something 🙂

I guarantee you no kids are allowed in that room. 🙂

From his own FAQ:

Why didn't you use a CRT projector?

There is some division among home theater enthusiats regarding projector technologies. Some old-school purists swear that Cathode Ray Tube projectors (CRT) are the best because they yield the purest black levels and contract ratios. CRTs have been used for years in standard televisions, computer screens, and other devices. Others prefer newer digital technologies, such as Digital Light Processing (DLP), Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), or Digital Direct Drive Image Light Amplifier (D-ILA). These digital devices have been improving year by year, as do most digital devices, and gaining more and more momentum in the home theater industry. When I looked at display devices, I wasn't able to discern much difference in image quality bewteen my DLP projector and the older CRTs. In fact, I preferred the DLP in many respects. Additionally, the DLP projector was quieter, smaller, and able to mount at the back of the room. A CRT would have to be mounted in the middle of the dome above the seats, and I didn't want to "invade" that space and ruin the effect of the clouds and stars.
