A P2P web

I wonder if in the future the entire WWW will be a P2P application, i.e. no servers.
So, you request a page and all the machines on the web receive the request, with the closest one replying with the data.

That's kind of how it already works. The routers in the network periodically send out packets to figure out how close each other router is. Each router will send out its data to all the other routers in the are. Then, each router will contruct a routing table to figure out what the fastest way to each router or data location is. So it's a good idea, but it's been thought about already. The way we have it set up now makes it such that the computer already knows which way is fastest before sending the data.

Did that part of the post give anyone else the heebie jeebies? Can you imagine your machine ever being informed of every request that goes on anywhere?

Eeps.
