wonder if he mispoke or the article was wrong. I think I'd prefer that he mispoke. That would make the next 4 years far more interesting.

Its sad to witness the failure of our education system so blatently paraded for all to see. I almost feel a sense of shame.
Conjur, a "typo" is a mechanical error (usually in the form of striking an incorrect key on a keyboard) that usually results in an unintended spelling error.
Unless you have another transcript of the interview, your assumption of a "typo" is, of course, baseless and without merit.

Typos also involve the mind thinking of one word but the fingers typing another word in its place. Rather common occurrence.
The only thing baseless and without merit is your entire stance of supporting Bush.

No, they don't. Well.....I suppose, obviously, that's what you think constitues a typo........

Interesting......my support of Bush over Kerry has relevance to my point of view regarding certain issues. Your opinion of my support is, most likely, formed in ignorance and prejudice.
Oh yeah, look for your sense of humor......I think you lost it when you became a.........what's that term you do so love to describe your political opponents again? That's right......Kerry-God fanboi.

Okay, since you've offered yourself up as an expert on the written word, allow me to observe the following, Your Highness:
It's "it's," not "its."
It's "blatantly," not "blatently."
Physician, heal thyself! Unlike you, however, I feel no "sense of shame" for your editorial sloppiness.
I'll further observe that, unless you have a transcript of the speech in question (it wasn't an interview, as you incorrectly observed), you too are making an assumption about what was said that may or may not be justified. As I said above, I'm inclined to assume this was a scrivener's error rather than a spoken misstep by Sen Kerry, since the article makes no comment on it.

I don't have a transcript of the speech. Instead I only have the quote from the article in linked above. I see that you are ever the clairvoyant, Don. It must really assist you in your lawyering duties, don't it?

Obviously you are not a Kerry-God fanboi, Winston.

Uh, yes, it do. In all seriousness, again, in the context of this quote, I think the likelier explanation is that the stringer who wrote the story made an editorial error (one that I, for the record, would call a typo). I am no psychic, but when you put the sentence in its context in the article, that seems to me like the likeliest explanation.
A larger issue, of course, is whether, even if Sen Kerry had said this, it would warrant an entire thread. With all due respect to President Bush, he has made so many malapropisms, and assembled so many fractured phrases, that they fill entire books, and page-a-day calendars. I imagine you feel it's mean-spirited to dwell excessively on these, and I'd basically agree (just as I feel, for that matter, it was mean-spirited of you to attack conjur for his use of the word "typo"). The fact of the matter is that politicians at the level of President Bush and Sen Kerry have people literally hanging on their every word, so any misstep will be documented ad infinitum.
With that in mind, why was this thread created? I can't imagine you're seriously arguing this was a "flip-flop," are you? Even if you're not "clairvoyant," surely you don't think that, if Sen Kerry said this, it was anything other than him misspeaking, right?

It's quite funny either way though...

At a steamfitters union hall in Philadelphia, Mr. Kerry told voters that under Mr. Bush, the tax burden for the middle class has grown, while taxes for the wealthiest have been cut.
