I didn't realize this at the time. Installing virtualBox will disable turbo-boost on your i7s.. I'm not kidding . I was doing some optimization work and noticed a DRAMATIC decrease in speed. Well, after backtracking what I had changed on my computer, I found that the installation of VirtualBox was the only thing I could think of that really changed.
Uninstaller virtual box, rebooted, and viola, turboboost started running like normal. It was the weirdest thing. Just thought I would share.
